Fake Tan Treatments
How does fake tan work? The main ingredient in fake tan products is DHA, a keto-sugar contained in fruit that reacts with proteins (amino acids) in the skin to turn brown when they combine with oxygen (the same way a peeled apple turns brown). DHA only affects with the skin's outermost layers which normally shed over a 5-7 day period, leading to eventual loss of tan. Keeping the skin supple and moisturised can prolong its appearance and help it stay even.

Preparation & Aftercare Advice
Before:
After:
- People prone to allergies or very sensitive skin should have a patch test 48 hours prior to treatment.
- Do not use any other self-tanning product within 4 days prior to treatment.
- Do not use any hair removal method within 24 hours prior to treatment.
- Wear loose, dark clothing when attending your appointment.
- We supply disposable paper t-strings and sticky feet free of charge.
- Remove jewellery beforehand.
- Avoid perfume, deodorant, body lotions/oils prior to treatment.
- If you choose an express cream tan you can complete your own exfoliation before visiting the salon. Please pay particular attention to extra dry areas such as knees, elbows, heels, ankles & shins. Do NOT over-exfoliate as this can lead to patchiness.
After:
- Do not shower, bathe, swim or perform exercise that makes you sweat for at least 8 hours after treatment. Swimmers should be aware that chemicals in swimming pools can have a bleaching effect.
- After showering or bathing pat skin dry with a soft towel and apply a Body Balm while the skin is still damp. This will lock in moisture and prolong the life of your tan. Never rub dry with a towel.
- Three to four days after treatment apply a light, even spread of cream self tan to any areas that are starting to fade.
