After surviving 25 years as a salon and having gone through all manner of highs and lows within that period of time, including two awful recessions, this 26th year in business looks like being the strangest and most testing of them all.
At the time of writing this, my team, my family and myself are all safely tucked up in our households obeying self-isolating rules and, luckily for us, we're all well - I am incredibly grateful for that. For us the risk of catching COVID-19 has been minimised for now and, while it's still a scary possibility further down the line, we're far safer than those in key roles bravely supporting and caring for the rest of society. It feels trite and inadequate - as I sit in a comfy armchair, socially distanced and tip-tapping at a keyboard - to send out messages of how grateful I am and how much I hope for their safety... but I am and I do. I might not hold strong religious beliefs but I do believe in something greater than ourselves and I fervently hope our collective gratitude and well-wishes towards those people can somehow make a difference and protect them!
Beyond sending out positive thoughts, I'm determined that as soon as life returns to some semblance of normality I'm going to act on my good-intentions instead of keeping them on-hold and get busy organising what fundraising events I can in support of the many good causes that are struggling because of this crisis.
As soon as my team and I are back in the same room (and we've dealt with a few inevitable hair and nail disasters 🙈) we'll be getting our thinking caps on and coming up with as many fun and engaging ideas as we can to support others. I am sure many of our wonderful clients will happily join with us too!
# staysafe everyone 💕🌈 💕
We're a small bunch of motivated individuals who love our hair and beauty profession and the fantastic big-bunch of clients we like to think of as our own. Choosing the best channel for communicating with our customers gets ever more complex with so many social-media platforms to choose from. Blogging, it seems, has stood the test of time and is relatively easy to share on several other channels so - although we're a little bit late to the pool party - we're finally dipping our pedicured-toes in the water and hoping for a lovely, warm reception!
