When the UK Government instructed salons to close their doors, due to COVID-19, we imagined there'd be plenty of ways our team could keep in touch with customers and still be able to offer help and guidance with hair and beauty concerns. Immediately our collective brains kicked into gear and we came up with all sorts of great ideas like demonstrating manual facial routines, root touch-up videos, etc, making use of Zoom and social media. We even planned to deliver tailored colour and treatments packages right to your door!
Little did we realise then, that taking advantage of the Government's furlough scheme would preclude our team from representing the salon in any way at all - salon social media or otherwise.
As a director I am the only person not furloughed and still active on the salon's behalf - therefore if I can be of any help at all please do contact me at email@example.com.
The salon's online store is still open too, offering free Royal Mail delivery within the UK and I'm even offering free doorstep deliveries within Washington (NE37 & NE38) on purchases over £25! Same day delivery if you order before midday!!
I hope to see you all again very soon - fit, well and completely free to mingle! Stay safe... 😘
After surviving 25 years as a salon and having gone through all manner of highs and lows within that period of time, including two awful recessions, this 26th year in business looks like being the strangest and most testing of them all.
At the time of writing this, my team, my family and myself are all safely tucked up in our households obeying self-isolating rules and, luckily for us, we're all well - I am incredibly grateful for that. For us the risk of catching COVID-19 has been minimised for now and, while it's still a scary possibility further down the line, we're far safer than those in key roles bravely supporting and caring for the rest of society. It feels trite and inadequate - as I sit in a comfy armchair, socially distanced and tip-tapping at a keyboard - to send out messages of how grateful I am and how much I hope for their safety... but I am and I do. I might not hold strong religious beliefs but I do believe in something greater than ourselves and I fervently hope our collective gratitude and well-wishes towards those people can somehow make a difference and protect them!
Beyond sending out positive thoughts, I'm determined that as soon as life returns to some semblance of normality I'm going to act on my good-intentions instead of keeping them on-hold and get busy organising what fundraising events I can in support of the many good causes that are struggling because of this crisis.
As soon as my team and I are back in the same room (and we've dealt with a few inevitable hair and nail disasters 🙈) we'll be getting our thinking caps on and coming up with as many fun and engaging ideas as we can to support others. I am sure many of our wonderful clients will happily join with us too!

Prepare in advance before soaking off your gel nails and make sure you have everything to hand to do the job properly. Set up in a well ventilated room and protect fabric and furnishings from potential acetone spills.
Ideally you should have the following:
The quickest method of removing gel nails at home:
IMPORTANT - do NOT pour acetone down the sink, toilet or drain. Instead soak it up with kitchen roll or an old rag. Pop it into a carrier bag and put it straight into the wheelie bin.
Blue Light - calms and soothes sebaceous glands; kills acne-causing bacteria and treats Rosacea (broken capillaries).
Red Light - softens fine lines and wrinkles by stimulating collagen, elastin and fibroblast production. It triggers natural repair mechanisms and boosts cellular regeneration.
Infrared Light - similar to Red Light but even more effective at treating wounds and scarring. Used after facial peeling treatments it can greatly increase benefits by helping rebuild the dermis.
Brow Lamination is the process by which unruly and/or downward pointing brow hairs can be smoothed out and redirected using specially developed products to create a fuller, more controlled shape. This treatment can be combined with traditional tinting methods to enhance the appearance even further. Skin sensitivity testing is mandatory 48 hours prior. Treatment takes 30-50 minutes to complete and effects last for up to 8 weeks.
We're a small bunch of motivated individuals who love our hair and beauty profession and the fantastic big-bunch of clients we like to think of as our own. Choosing the best channel for communicating with our customers gets ever more complex with so many social-media platforms to choose from. Blogging, it seems, has stood the test of time and is relatively easy to share on several other channels so - although we're a little bit late to the pool party - we're finally dipping our pedicured-toes in the water and hoping for a lovely, warm reception!
